Sony Vaio --- Cannot Play CD/DVD

Hi All,

I've just installed Red Hat 9 on my Sony Vaio PCG-GRZ610
laptop. I am unable to play both CD's/DVD's. Ironically, the
little sound byte test worked perfectly. So, I think the issue may lie with the actual devices themselves. I would appreciate
any help on trying to resolve this issue. Also, I'm relatively
new to Linux, so if I say anything "stupid" my apologies in advance.

What are you using to play the CDs??

Hello Ash,

I am using both the default CD/DVD players that come with
the installation. On a previous version of Red Hat (8), I had
no problems on my other computer which is a Dell.

do they even mount when you insert them or do you manually mount them yourself?
