I have a three year old Sony VAIO PCG-FX240 notebook. Over the past few months I had noticed the battery would not keep the machine up for more than a few minutes so I knew it was going bad. A couple of weeks ago it got to where it would die even though I had it plugged in to the electrical outlet. I got a replacement battery (PCGABP71) and charged/discharged it a couple of times. The last time I discharged it (left it on all night) and tried to turn it on, it would not power up. It won't work with either battery or no battery. I checked the power cord, where it plugs into the notebook, it has the proper current.
I live in a one horse town, so to get it worked on I would either have to drive to Jackson, an hour and a half away, or send the machine into SONY. God only knows how long that would take, not to mention how much it would cost.
Any ideas?
