Sony DSC-S50 digicam in XP -- driver issues?

AAARGH! I can't get my DSC-S50, which Microsoft says should be WIM compatible, to work under XP. XP says the usb device is not recognized. Sony has no XP drivers for it, and the 2k drivers won't fly.

Any ideas?
