Hello, I have a Sony 52x CDRW drive that I've had for about 6 months. It gets a decent amount of usage, but not too much, maybe a two to three burns a week if that. Recently, I've noticed that it takes a long time to burn a disc. The drive seems to hang for a few minutes, then it takes off and works fine. The problem is that it takes a long time to get started once I hit burn. Any ideas? Used Sony's check tool and the drive checked out perfectly.

It's never a good idea having Nero and Easy CD Creator programs installed at the same time, installing both, in the past, has caused
all sorts of freezing/hanging issues.

Interesting paparazi... hmmm... Well I have two burners actually, the sony 52x cdrw then a sony 8x dvdrw. the dvdrw burns perfect, no hesitation. I would suspect it would effect both drives if it were since both software pieces are installed. This may be something for me to try though even though I like using both, Nero for certain things and Creator for others, mainly DVD building...
I use Memorex for my CDs and I have some TDKs as well. Happens with both of them.
