Sony CD-RW crx0811 - writing software won't recognize blank CD-R

I'm running XP, with a Sony CD-RW crx0811. In My Computer, looking at the CD-R's properties will show that there is a blank disk. When I insert the disk into the drive, a window pops up asking what I'd like to do with this blank disk. My CD-R software (Roxio Easy CD 5, Windows CD writing utility), however, don't recognize the blank CD-R, and will not allow me to burn a disk. I have the most recent driver for the drive and for Roxio. I have burned other disks with XP running on this machine, but am unable to now. Has anyone come across this problem?

Well, I read some of the other threads and got rid of Roxio. Problem solved. Darn you Roxio!
