SonicWALL option 176 1

I recently added option 176 to a customer SonicWALL Tz190 DHCP server, but when the phone boots it gives me an error that says "there are looping rules, contact administrator". Has anyone has success with this? I have several customers with Windows DHCP servers working properly.
 
Yep, I've seen this...

It is to do with setting VLAN IDs

One DHCP scope is settimg the VLAN ID to (say) 10 and the DHCP server for VLAN 10 is setting it back to VLAN 0

I'd add L2QVLAN=XX where XX is the correct VLAN ID to the scope (probably in the sonicwall)

Certainly look at the L2QVLAN settings...

If you don't have a phone with you to check the option, use wireshark to see if the sonic sends the 176 option, I also recommend adding option 242 with the same string. The 242 is a option for 16XX en the new 96xx phones, you may never know in the near future.

I made the change and asked the customer to test. I'll update when I hear from them.
 
Don't know for a sonicwall, but i've used cisco's to sent options they could also handle bin files for the phones.

So we had the default option L2QVLAN=XX in the default VLAN and programmed the second port on the Cisco to be in nother VLAN and used the Cisco as a TFTP file server.
