We're on an Avaya 8.1.3 system.

I have about 4 users in different buildings complain that every once in a while, when a call comes in, instead of ringing the phone will make what sounds like coffee brewing.

When they answer the call, they cannot hear anyone on the other side.

The phones are all 9608 models.

One thing in common is that these extensions all are part of call pickup groups, call answer groups, are in cover paths, that sort of thing.

I haven't been able to figure this one out. I know it isn't a lot of info, but has anyone heard of this?

Thanks for any advice!

Sounds like a Java problem. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist!

Sounds like it’s time for coffee! (sorry, bad joke)

I’d check the power consumption on the PoE switch.

So I actually did think of PoE and increased the PoE priority on one of the ports and still the same issue.

By the way, I have a video of the issue now...

I uploaded it here:

I need some more help. Why did you lift the handset? I mean, when the phone rings and you lift the handset, it is answered, I think.

But I think you might have some bad DSP resources. You should be able to see what resources are used and go from there.
