I am using IE5.0 on Windows95. I was going through some sites when on one, as it was downloading the page, the window size changed. It got to about 7/8 the screen in heightand is wider than my screen itself. I can barely see any of the toolbarand nothing on the sides to try and "draw" it in. I tried closing the program, rebooting the computer, even wiped out IE and downloaded it again to no avail. The only way I can use it is to have it in minimize, and widen the box to where I can use it, but if I try to open a new window....there I am again.
Thanks for any help.

Can you see any of the Toolbars, like, Tools if you can go Tools->Reset Web Settings.

if not try holding down the Alt key and pressing T then scroll down to reset web settings.

You can also try F11 to bring you in and out of full screen...

good luck

F11 toggles it to a full screen view, but when returning to a maximized screen it is still to big. Did the (Alt T), and clicked reset web settings. It said restored to default, but nothing changed. Anything else I can try. Thanks for the help!

Your settings on display properties need to be changed. Control panel>display>slide the bar to the size you prefer

I tried that option and it was already at 640x480. It doesn't effect any other programs. They all work fine, it is only on IE5.0.....I even have an old Netscape Gold and it works fine, it is just on IE when you maximize it it widens past the outsides of the screen. The bottom of the IE windo moves up some where I can see it, the top is barely visible (I can see the stop button, refresh, etc, about halfway but then the disappear into the top. The sides seem like they want to go out past the monitor. Thanks again for the help. Any other ideads? Figures I'd come up with a problem like this!

Have you tried to repair IE5. add/remove programs> click on IE5 then repair. Also you can run> SFC to check for any corrupted windows problems.

Hello:

I had much the same problem (could not maximize the browser window) with my system running IE 5.5 and W95. Check out MS Knowledge Base Article ID: Q194759...it pertains to your explorer window opening in a different size or different place.

Good Luck!

Try this and email me if it does not work....
Open up IE as normal.
On the taskbar, right click over the Internet Explorer box, A small box should appear with the options
Restore
Move
Size
Minimize
Maximize

Close

If Restore is highlighted click it, the window should move some how. Right Click on the Internet Explorer box on the taskbar and click move. You now should be able to use the Arrow keys to move the IE box around. Move it down to a point where you can see _[]X. Click the [] tab to maximize it and the window should be okay.

good luck :)

Thanks to all who applied. The IE update that w5kxo gave worked for me. Thanks again for ALL replies.
