Hi.
Time to time some save_sets don't recycling automatically and therefore
whole volume cannot set "recycled" flag.
In listing below the save_set with ssid=3714926849 is a typical example.
It has a flag "b" (browsable) instead "E" (eligible), although its
browse and retent times are far in past and equal to other save_sets.
Why this happened ?
I have 6.0.1.Build.174 Turbo/10

Thanks.

Are these save sets spanning to volumes that have not recyclable save sets on them?

I have encountered this same problem. I have a (posix) shell script that searches a given set of pools and finds all volumes with no unexpired savesets and then changes those volumes to recyclable. I will send this script to anyone who is interested.

We have the same problem and cannot find the solution. About once a month I manually check all of our tape volumes and recycle those that should have already done so.

We got the same problem.
I got the impression that this had to do with removed clients. When the client is removed from networker, the status of the savesets belonging to that client are no longer updated. I.e. when they are expired they are not set to recyclable. I got rumours, that this is fixed by Legato in release 6.1.3, but I didn't check.
I use a script to set all ssid's belonging to that client to recyclable, before I finaly remove the client.
A volume become recycable when all savesets on it are marked recyclable.
You can use mminfo to find ssid's belonging to a client
You can use nsrmm to mark them recyclable
You will only see the change in the volume list, after nsrim -X has run.

We've also had the same problem. If you remove a client, the save sets won't expire like they are supposed to. Also, if you try to you consolidated backups, the level 1's that are created also do not always expire. This might be due to failed consolidations.
