I'm very new to Avaya phone systems. Can someone provide me with a step-by-step to enable an automatic "we will be closing" message to be broadcast over our PA system at designated times? If it is even possible...

We are using:
[ul]
[li]Avaya IP Office Manager 7.0[/li]
[li]Voicemail Pro[/li]
[/ul]

Staff have been dialing 384 to manually say that we are closing. I created a new Hunt Group. I gave it an extension of 800 and added our 384 "paging" extension to it's User List. That's as far as I got.

Thanks.

Of course it worked, it's VMPro :)

Kind regards

This is working very well for us over our analog paging system. I haven't been able to get it to work over our digital handsets. The handsets ring, but we want the message to be played automatically with the speaker. Does anyone know of a way to make that work? Thanks.

Still of top of my head...

- Make a HG and put the extn you want to page in it.
- Make a Short Code, ##99## / Dial Paging / HG number / 0
- Put the Short code as destination on the Post Dial in VMPro.

In 9.1.6 the post dial doesn't like special characters, that's why in the thread I linked it came in a few parts, one of which was building the dial page as a plain number short code. But this also assumes your paging is an analog port set up as a paging speaker, the dial page doesn't work with CO ports or analog station type paging.

a bit more clarity to Gunnaro's post about...
- put the digital phones and the analog extn used to connect to the paging system in the HG noted above.
At least I think that's what he meant. :)

Well, I could have been more clear:)
Have some pink for the effort clarifying!

You both have been very helpful. I was only able to schedule a page using VMPro --> Server Queues --> Alarms
This doesn't allow you to target SC, though.

It appears that I can use a SC as the extension in the Post Dial, but I have not been able to schedule a page the other ways budbyrd originally suggested early in this thread. Looking at my System Status, they are never triggered to start.

You're on R5.0, can't remember if there are any limitations on the older releases, but I do know that this worked on R7.0+

Yes, I'll work on updating the software.

Another issue. Our message is playing over our PA system at the times programmed, but it is playing in a loop. Is there any way to have the message play only once per alarm?

The post dial has a check box in R9.1 for looping the wav file. Not sure on an older release.

Loop is there in earlier R's too, but the best/easiest solution: Edit the wav file and duplicate what ever you want repeated. (I know, it's so low-tech it reduce ridiculous)

The post dial method didn't work for me, I am using the Server Queue --> Alarm method above. I will upgrade the software and see if I can get the post dial method working.

Quick question. Is this paging on an analog station port, or analog port programmed to be a Paging Speaker. Those two things behave quite differently. I was attempting to use the alarm queue trick on our lab system (which uses a paging speaker port) and in monitor it failed in targeting. Acted like it wanted to ring something. If you are using a ringing analog station port for paging, you will never be able to do a group page with your digital sets. Oh, the post dial will also fail on a station port because it is looking to go out of the phones speaker.

Maybe try Complete sequence and add another Post Dial action?
