I'm very new to Avaya phone systems. Can someone provide me with a step-by-step to enable an automatic "we will be closing" message to be broadcast over our PA system at designated times? If it is even possible...

We are using:
[ul]
[li]Avaya IP Office Manager 7.0[/li]
[li]Voicemail Pro[/li]
[/ul]

Staff have been dialing 384 to manually say that we are closing. I created a new Hunt Group. I gave it an extension of 800 and added our 384 "paging" extension to it's User List. That's as far as I got.

Thanks.

This thread kind of covers it.
As far as making it automated for a specific time, I am sure it could be done, and if not a simple external timer control would do the trick.

Thanks for prompt and relevant response. I tried the steps in the other thread without success. I included screenshots here to so you can see what I did. Thanks again.

So when you dial the short code 888 do you hear the page beep go off? This should be acting as a simple page access code. If that works then add an entry prompt to the post dial to make sure it is getting there. The only other thing I can think of to find where it is failing would be to watch it in monitor. It also looks like you're using an older version of IPO. We started using this for emergency evac and other notifications around R8 if I remember right.

Thanks. I get "Number Busy" after dialing 88. I will watch it in the monitor. Yes, it is R5. I will see about updating it.

Use the VMPro Alarms to trigger the Post Dial module.
If no channels available, make it retry every 1 minute 4 times over.

Gunnaro,

How do you get the alarm set action to trigger a post dial? I know you can replace the alarm prompt with the desired recording, but I've never been able to get the alarm set action to trigger a post dial.

I've never really played with the alarm. I would be interested in how that would work as well. We usually use an external clock source tied to an analog port for timed triggering.

Not connected to my systems right now, so this is just off top of my head...

Make a ghost user "AlarmUser" in the IPO, and add Queued in VMPro for that user.
Then you put your Post Dial thingy in the queued module.
Now you make an Alarm with the Target being AlarmUser, and you set the frequency daily + the time.

It will run all days of the week, but you can prevent it from screaming out loud on the PA by adding a Condition for workdays in the module
(but who cares if it announces when nobody's in the store?)

Strange they've not made a feature like this, but I guess those who initially compiled VMPro are at a retirement home in Florida.

And here's a bonus tip:

To prevent anyone from dialing the ghost user, add "Voicemail" (without the quotes) to the DND exception list of the ghost and enable DND.

Budbyrd,
Thanks, you've been very helpful. I was able to get the page to work a couple different ways actually.

Gunarro,
Can you look at the screenshot and let me know what I'm doing wrong with the Alarm Set? I've tried many different things including the order of the actions. I know that my Post Dial is configured properly as the settings work when I use a SC.

Thanks everyone!

Well, you need a target in the Post Dial :)

But I've yet to see the way you set it up work, try Server Queues>Alarms, see if that helps.

Gunnaro,

Here is my Post Dial action. It is the same configuration I used for a SC action to play a wav file over our PA system. That is working. My attempt at automating it with an Alarm Set is not. Thanks again.

Again, Server Queues (Drop the alarm action in front of the Queued SP)

By clicking on Alarms under Server Queues, I guess that I'm supposed to see the next scheduled action. It is blank, so I suppose I didn't configure my Alarm Set properly. You can see how I configured it in the last two screenshots above.

You're supposed to right click in the empty pane and add a new alarm.

Yeah, tried that, too. Right clicking doesn't do anything. I right clicked to create my other SC and Modules, so I'm aware of that function. It just doesn't work for Server Queues.

Nevermind. Left click Server Queues then right click in the open area to the right. I'm testing this method now. Thanks.

Your VMPro server doesn't allow you to right click in the Alarm window? Bring it behind the barn and shoot it!
