I have a couple of mission critical reports and I'm told that the reason that they take so long to create is becaused Solomon has to call the "ROI" every time there is a subreport occurrence. Is there any way to optimize this?

1 report has 1 subreport and the other has about 4 , yet they both take about 10 secs to compile and 3 - 6 more seconds before the first page starts to print out.

This is in a Citrix terminal services environment and we have pretty much ruled out Citrix as the problem.

Hi Bettina!

Have you found a way to make reports run faster?

I work with Solomon IV too (Ver. 5.0) and have to deal with creating/mantaining reports all the time... (drives me crazy).

I've found the Solomon reports to be painfully slow as well. I hope they fix that soon.

I'm also a Project Manager on a Solomon Project and I'm looking for a Programmer that specializes in Solomon. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well, on my case, when my boss hired me, I didn't knew anything about Solomon. In fact, I’d never heard of it.

I was just graduated and with no experience at all (just my school projects). I knew well about SQL, Visual Basic, etc. I knew how to make reports but I'd never used Crystal Reports. That was no problem at all.

I've been working in Solomon, CR and SQL Server for approximately 4 months now and I'm capable of making complex reports from scratch in CR, I'm able to modify Solomon’s reports, I can make querys and update records from the DB (specially when users mess up and leave fields blank). I know all the important tables and processes on the DB and you must know that Solomon’s documentation in that areas is almost null.

Actually I'm developing an application in VBasic to complement Solomon in a specific area of the company. I’m using Solomon data to do that.

My point is that unless you need with urgency an expert to make some project, you can always hire someone like me (or with more experience) if the person has the skills needed to learn quickly and do the job. I think we can always learn anything, specially when we have the basic knowledge.
