I had my solarwinds package working just fine. Then I went to the router a 3600, and made a change . I set "snmp trap link-status", now on my solarwinds node says I have "NO SNMP Support". How do I get my support back?
The changes made in a Cisco router, as the one you have mentioned, usually take place as soon as you hit the enter key; but perhaps the SNMP service has to be stopped and restarted...just a thought.
Did you do a show run to make sure the "no" form of the command(s) you put in took place? Reloading the router/pc aren't options? You would not BELIEVE the nightmare I just got thru after an hour...thank goodness I saved the config before my PC crashed!!! I had IPS turned on, and the rules built and applied to 3 interfaces, 4 different acl's...this is at home...and NOTHING would connect after my PC crashed and reload on the router! Reloaded the original config, but had to do it via console, which as anyone may know that transferring text files via console (PuTTy or Hyperterminal) does not always work the first 10 times...at least not for me. In other words, if you have a copy of the old config, use it!
looks like some snmp command was probably stripped out and now your solarwinds cant connect to the router via snmp...
just look over the snmp portion in the config and see if something was removed.. possibly the command you entered above took out other lines of the config...
and burt... try loading full carrier configs via console over a vsat connection... its painful. hyperterm is the only one we can get to work decent enough.. putty and other clients randomly freeze and disconnect and actually skip lines of code. very frustrating lol.
Yes---I totally agree---I finally have a version of PuTTy that does not disconnect (not yet, anyway), and has a console option as well. Wow---hope they compensate you well where you work for dealing with satellite!!!lol
