Solaris8 ssh issue

I'm having issues with ssh, when I try to run it I'm getting the following error message:-

ssh -l lann01 dave
lann01@dave's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
lann01@dave's password:

Any ideas as to what I'm missing?

I think you have your username and servername the wrong way round? In your example above, the username is "lann01" and the server is "dave". Is this correct?
