solaris login takes forever

w2k to solaris 8 using hummingbird v8. when loging in using xdmp broadcast or a x term the blue and white solaris logo is on for ages and stays on in the background even when the xterm is open. only a few machines do this the others are fine.

Ive seen that before but dont know what causes it. Changing frmo xdmcp broadcast to xdmcp query might help.
In Xconfig->Communication set your mode to query and then hit the configure.. button and add the IP address of the machine you want to connect to.

Normally this is cause by not having your system setup in Xconfig in Single Window Mode. Ensure this is set for all systems that you wish to have a full screen XDM Solaris desktop. Video card driver may also cause issues with Exceed and the desktop. Make sure you have the latest and greatest driver.
