solaris for Intel...

HI ALL...
well i am trying to install the Solaris for intel version on my PC and have deignated arnd 10 GB for the OS, i ahve Windows ME as the other OS.
last time when i was trying to install the OS it over write the Primary DOS partition which had Windows ME in it and as a result Windows ME was deleted.
could any one tell me how to install the Solaris so that it installs in the designated 10 GB space which is a NON dos partitions...
do i have to make that partition as DOS and make as Active??
or Windows ME partition is supposed to be active.?? how does Solaris install knows where to install the Solaris OS??

I have downloaded sol-8-1_01-install-fcs-bin-ia-ml with the other 2 installation files, how do I now start the install?

It seems like all the docs refere to cdrom install?
