I have installed Solaris 9/05 on a V240, all finishes fine. When I go to boot it tells me it needs a 64bit kernel. I tried changing the boot-file to kernel/sparcv9/unix and it cannot open boot file. When I ran the install I installed all packages. Any ideas?

Unfortunately that isn't an option at this time as we have code that hasn't been tested on Solaris 10.

looks like you need a newer version of Solaris 9

here is a snip of a doc I found:

the minimum operating system for 1.336GHz and 1.503GHz is Solaris 8 7/03 with patch 109885-15 or later, Solaris 9 12/03, or Solaris 10.

Hmm...usually if your hardware is not supported you would not even be able to boot off the cd-rom.

Try either turning the diag-switch? variable off or changing the diag-file to the 64-Bit Kernel. Make sure the key is not turned to the diagnostic mode also.

Tried the diag-switch and nothing helped. I completely re-installed from DVD all packages including oem and when I try to boot kernel/unix it says I need a 64-bit application, when I boot kernel/sparcv9/unix it says cannot open file. Is there another location that the 64-bit kernel may be getting installed with Solaris 9/05? Anyway I can figure out where the kernels are?
