Has Sun changed there mind about supporting the Intel platform beyond Solaris 8? It would be nice to see ongoing support for both 32 and 64 bit systems under this platform.

 
is not a final decision yet ! for now Sun just freeze the Solaris 9 Intel development...

yes Sun have frozen all intel development, it should be noted that major server manufacturers already offer or will soon be offering full UNIX box's yes even compaq !!!

With it legacy dependancies, intel based servers are not the best platform for UNIX to run on efficiently !!

We will all have to learn to use and fix alpha's !!
 
sorry i am new to unix and sun solaris...what is a alpha
