hi, I have a little problem with solaris 8 platform. After instalation, there are no interfaces up. So I cannot configure the network. What can I do? How can I make interfaces???

Thanks in advance for your help...

Can you plumb the interfaces ("ifconfig <interface> plumb")?
What's your hardware?

Ok, I tried to use the ifconfig command, but it gives back that there is invalid file name.
e.g
ifconfig hme0 plumb

gives back invalid file name.
How can I know what name should I give??

Hi dude,

Try " ifconfig -a " first.
This should show which interfaces are available.
Depending on the interfaces, the names change (e.g.; ce0, hme0,eri0, ...)

How did you configure / install the system?

Is the /etc/hosts file configured correctly, together with the /etc/netmasks and the /etc/hostname.<adaptorname> ???

doti. Why are you starting another thread for this when your first is still extant? It just serves to confuse matters IMHO.

Correct.
Noticed the newer thread with answer yesterday evening...
