Hi
I have 2 questions regarding the Solaris 10 Recommended Patch Clusters.
1.I need to install on T5120 mechine , this global server has 4 zones on it.
I would like to verify the steps I am going to do if they are correct or if something is missing :
A.Put under / the Solaris 10 Recommended Patch Clusters.
B.Connect with console to the server.
C.Run init -s (for single user mode ).
D.run the ./installcluster
E.Run init 6

Do I need also to halt the zones ? , on which stage ?

2.I need to install on Sun-Fire-T200 mechine Solaris 10 Recommended Patch Clusters.
I don't have a console to this server and I need to install the cluster patches in single user mode.
How can I do it without a console ?
What are the full steps ?

Thanks
Shai

Not sure about 1, but do you mean a T2000 in 2? How come you don't have a console to this server. If you have a cable for the console to the T5120, use the same one for the T2000. Or am I misunderstanding something?

Hi Ken
I do mean T2000 in 2 but since its hosted server I do not have a direct console .
I can ssh this server and I have root access but don't have a console connected.

One thing to note, I would suggest *rebooting* the server into single user mode as opposed to going to init s. Do a "reboot -- -s" to be certain that the system comes up in single user mode and all zones have been shutdown.

Hi Shai. Thanks for the explanation. You could set up remote ssh access via the XSCF, but that would involve preliminary work at the host end. If you go down that route check out the excellent advice I was given by David in thread60-1592331
