Software Upgrade 2

I am upgrading the software on an old Nortel 0X32 sytem this weekend. The current software is DR5. I purchased a new 6.0 and a 7.1 but have never done an actual upgrade before. I did some research and the term "Nortel tools" popped up. The current system operates using PRI trunking. We are only upgrading to allow for distinctive ringing on one of the few line groups. I'm a little rusty on PRI programming so I don't want to lose their current program (and get jammed on a Sunday afternoon). I would like to know the procedure for the actual upgrade (eg. power off system,use only the flash card and not the cartridge?? Nortel tools? Key codes? etc.) Thanks for your help.

You can find a PDF copy of this guide online. Go straight to page 207: "Upgrading your Norstar system".

Then, if there are things that you want to clarify, we'll be glad to help.

From DR5 simply power down, install 6.1 and wait for upgrade then do same procedure to 7.1.
give it lots of time to complete.
You can use actual software or the upgrade tools.
In your case 6.0 wont help....you need 6.1

I'm assuming you mean dr 5.0 since dr5 doesn't work on mics systems?

I rarely get to work on these systems anymore so please forgive me if I get the numbers wrong. DR5 or DR 5.0 is ALL I remember as far as software from years past. I have yet to be on site to see this system. I am going on cell phone pic (not very clear) and a verbal description. Looks like Nortel Tools is the way to go. Thanks.

It's 5.0 because its working on a 0X32 so not to worry.
