Ok.. I have been pointed to some breakthrough software. It is not cheap, but it will allow you to mount a priv.edb that is not mountable by Exchange. You can then copy information from any of the mailboxes out to a PST file or out to a functional Exchange Server.

It has mounted my dead priv.edb and allowed me access to almost everyone of my user mailboxes. I would highly suggest looking into it.. It is made by the Ontrack Data Recovery people. Their site is and the tools for Exchange is called Power Controls.

This is a very good product. However, to any potential buyers out there, be advised that when the level of damage to the IS database(s) is high, this tool still won't be able to open the file. (I've actually tried it out on several EDB's...). Even so, if you or your company can spare the bucks, it's far superior to having a "hot-standby" server waiting in the wings...

Yes you are right Bronto! I could mount the EDB that was in service when the IS corrupted, but I COULD NOT mount the copy of the EDB that was "repaired" via MS's instructions to repair the EDB.. I thought that rather ironic.
