I installed a new hard drive and Windows 2000 Professional. All has went well and I am very happy except for one thing.
I cannot get my Digital Blue Microscope to work on the system....it worked perfectly under old hard drive with no gliches. I contacted Digital Blue who have been very very helpful but still at a loss. The software error on the program says "cannot find all of the software components to run the complete program". I have removed and re-installed the program 5 or 6 times. I have correctly installed the program and removed the program via windows and all is ok. Any suggestions where I might look further? Please help!

By now, I would have expected at least a reply from my post...can someone please make an effort to assist me? Thanks.

Vacunita!
I have already researched that,,,I have spoken to Digital Blue, the also sent me drivers and finally new software...none of them have worked. I checked out mechanically the unit and it works on an XP notebook. As I stated earlier, I use to run this on my Windows 2000 Professional Service Pak 4 with all upgrades without any issues...After replacing my harddrive and re-installing OS and other programs,,,this one refuses to load completely.
Comes up with Error message 57 which states: "Please re-load software, existing software cannot locate all of the files necessary to run the program:". Does anyone have any further suggestions? Thanks.

I really have no clue what could be going on, and likely neither do the rest of the guys around here since no one has responded.

I'd look into what was different from your previous installation to this one.

So: Maybe a silly question, but have you installed Service Pack 4 again after reloading Win 2000?

Maybe there's something there that the software requires.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Have you done the windows updates including netframework?
I have never used digital Blue but some software needs netframework to work properly.

Vacunita:

Thanks for your attention. Yes, I have installed SP4 and I have also updated all my drivers per the manufacturer's web site. I also disabled prior to installing the software the Registry Mechanic software and the McAfee Security Center software. I thought maybe there was some interference with those running. Further examination of my Add/Remove Option in Control Panel shows any entry for Digital Blue and also a separate entry for Windows Driver Package for Digital Blue, Marsqx5 Version 1.00 dated April, 2007. The manufacturer clearly states that USB should not be plugged in until after software has been installed. I have complied with that as well. When I plug in the USB it "finds the new device driver" and installs it as "ok".
Thanks for any further assistance you can give.

Error: "Your computer can't find all the necessary software components. Please reinstall the application. (32)"

This type of error, fatal exceptions, and errors when exiting the app all occur when the software has just been installed but the computer was not rebooted before running the application. A reboot is required to complete the installation of the newer DirectX* components.

To resolve this issue, reboot the computer. This will complete the installation of the Digital Blue™ Digital Movie Creator and its necessary system files. The Digital Blue Digital Movie Creator application should now run fine.

Digital Blue™ Digital Movie Creator

The above was copied from the Digital Blue wesite. It also points to needing Direct X i would look and make sure you have the updated Direct X installed as well.

Thanks to all for your kind assistance. I have decided to only use the Microscope on the laptop....using Windows XP. I am going to now have to make a decision on what to do about Windows 2000 Professional.....all indications shows it will be going the way of the horse and buggy...and no support from Microsoft...but what are the alternatives? Windows XP, another "obsolete" system, Vista which has not gotten very good reviews. or wait for 7?
Thanks again all....

No OS is going to be supported for ever. As I read it Microsoft is supporting XP for some time yet, and many new machines are still being supplied with that OS installed.

If your Digital Blue Microscope works with XP, then I'd stick with that. You could check with the software supplier to see if they offer any new features under Vista, but I doubt it.

Stay with what works for you...
