What is the name of the software package that takes DOS files (or DOS files converted to text files) and "stips and cleans" them so they go nicely into a excel spreadsheet or access table?
I remember hearing about it before, I think it starts with an "S". Thanks!

Melissa

For all you wondering - the package is Monarch. (doesn't start with an S!) It takes DOS files and converts them into nice neat speadsheet so you can work with your data.

Hello Melissa,

Have you ever instantiated Monarch as an object and controlled it using VBA?

Thanks

Sorry for the delayed reply. I haven't, but I would be interested if that would work.

Go to their website and download the programmers guide. You can pretty much cut and paste their examples and use them as working code.

Good LucK!

Hi Melissa,
I have used Monarch (Pro version) alot. My main use was to strip data out of system generated reports and tables of data from SAP etc. From a RDB view only one join can be made at one time. However this can be overcome by using a second project to read the ouput of the first. Therefore you can "chain" these projects in Monarch. Setting up the templates can be a wee bit complex and requires validation in design. Once done it is great. It is has a simple but powerfull reporting function as well. I moved on to Access and then SQL but still use Monarch for those generated reports.
Regards
Ianoc
