We're looking for an application that will list all installed software and hardware installed on our systems. All we need is a basic package for listing versions. Does anybody know of any that will meet our needs?

thanks

To name a few:

SysTrack; Lakeside Software
TrackIT; Blue Ocean
SMS; Microsoft
Audit Wizard

Good luck!

I use visual audit from its basic will take about 5-10 minutes to deploy to a domain and is managed centrally with no logon scripts etc. Has a pretty good software datebase which you can add to manually. Now comes with a "changes since last scan archive" report.

But best of all it is very very cheap......

Also, take a look at EdgeSight:

EdgeSight 3.1

Unlike most products, it audits and monitors PCs in real-time, and reports changes to hardware and software as well as network usage, re-boots, up-time etc.

Very useful as an addition to SMS or other software distribution agents, as it lets you know whether your updates have fixed or broken anything (hopefully) before the users notice anything wrong.

I'm looking for a tool that is capable of on-line restores of individual Active Directory objects, attributes, GPO's. (With on-line I mean without having to reboot into recovery mode).

Thanks in advance...

We have small network 1 server win 2000 and a mix of win 2000 pro and win xp proworkstations. I have been using Resource Monitor. It can provide reports on software inventory, hardware inventory, website usage, improper shut down, etc... I can stop use of specific progrgams. Monitor web usage. take screen shots every 30 second to 5 minutes. Stop internet completely, allow only certain sites. This sofware is much cheaper than most. The only problem it doesn't monitor network traffic. check it out a They also have great support.
