Software Installation Changes

I am looking for software that will take a snapshot of the OS and registry, allow you to install software on the Windows server and then tell you what has changed - in both the registry, dlls, etc.
It is so difficult when securing a Windows server to know what has been written on your server in order to only open those particular places.

I did check out TripWire and while it might help, I think it does a lot more than I need. I was hoping for a "simple" application that would just report changes that occurs when software is installed.
However, it did find out how to get a free poster!
