What is a good solution (other than the $$$$$ SMS) to software deployment over a 2k network, for programs that don't work with Gropu Policy distribution? I want to be able to have mandatory installs for computers, instead of having the user run the install from the add/remove panel. Also, i would like to install hotfixes across the network as a mandatory item.... Do i really have to bite the bullet and create .msi's for all the new hotfixes and any other program i want to install on startup??? Please give me your thoughts!!!

There many tools out there that can deploy software packages. You just have to look. As for hotfixes I suggest Software Update Server from Microsoft. It is free and it works wonderfully. The only thing is that it only works on 2000 and up.

i have just started playing with SUS, but all i can find for other software is SMS and i don't think i want to spend $1000's on it
