Hi All

I have a customer running ip500v2 8.1(65) with just an essential edition licence.

There is a requirement for a user to have a softphone on their laptop as they are going to be working remotely for the next year and they are dead set against a VPN handset, however i know in the later releases there is a need for Preferred edition licence as a prereq to get the power user licence to work.

If anyone could advise me of the best course of action, without having to purchase preferred edition licence it would be much appreciated.

Shame that preferred edition is the pre-req for using teleworker or power user licences, so very expensive solution for one softphone user!

From 8.1 Matrix

License Requirements
"Use of IP Office Softphone requires the IP Office system to contain the following licenses:
• System Licenses
For IP Office Release 7.0 and higher, the system must have Essential Edition and Preferred Edition licenses.
• User Licenses
Use of IP Office Softphone requires the IP Office configuration to contain sufficient Teleworker and/or Power User licenses for the number of configured IP Office Softphone users. To be valid, the licenses must match the serial number of the IP Office system's feature key. "

I remember at once time all you needed were the One-X portal user licences.

I wonder how many people was put off going for this as they now need to buy Preferred edition but have no need for the bundled Voicemail Pro?

One-X portal is much easier now there is there the Application Server and I guess many sites have virtualisation - and no need for Windows Server licences.
