I replaced our 2 receptionists PCs with new ones and installed SoftConsole and it just disappears after logging in. I tried the -debug command and the log is not helpful at all. I excluded the Avaya directory from our AV SW and excluded softconsole.exe from DEP.

Any troubleshooting advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

michaeleichacker, there is not a great deal we can help with here, it's an issue with the PC's you are using. I assume they are not running a 64 bit operating system as that isn't supported :)

Thanks for responding. It is XP 32 SP3. The only difference is SP3 and new AV software. I guess I'll rebuild it from scratch without those components and see if that cures the issue.

Thanks,
Mike

SP3 should not be the problem but the AV can be !

It might be an issue with multiple people using the same machine. I install the program as one user and then log in as another and the program is not installed. What is the best practice for multiple people sharing a computer with SoftConsole loaded? Install it for each person or just create a shortcut to SoftConsole.exe.

Thanks,
Mike

cant you select to install for all users during install?

I think you can but why do that ?
Softconsole is an application that should have it's own pc !

It need to be open and on screen all the time, but that is my opinion

It is because I have multiple receptionists that use the PC and software and they need to log into the PC as themselves so they can work and check e-mail as themselves. It is a security issue more than anything. Each person has to have their own login. We used to have a shared user that they logged in as, but we also deployed Outlook 2007 and it does not allow shared users.

Thanks,
Mike

im certain you can select install for all users.

uninstall and run the installer again.

I uninstalled and started the installation program and there is no option for all users. There is Typical and Custom. I tried both and no choice for install for all users. There is only Languages and SoftConsole under Custom.

Thanks,
Mike

uninstall all versions of SC you have, then log in as Administrator (or user with admin rights), install the softconsole and then create a shortcut for the other users to link to the softconsole.exe so that they can use it. You should not need to install it more then once on the PC and if they use the same PC they also might use the same extension which means they don't need to log into different extensions

Just uninstalled mine to test. you do get the option to install for all users.

what version are you installing?

just installed the latest version and no "all users" option.
Tom do you run that on Vista?

Nope. XP baby. im old skool.

4.1.7 I tried the newer versions and they do not work reliably at all. Lots of quirks like people turning red when busy and never turning back to gray. This version seems to work well with our IP Office version and I really do not want to switch that. It took over year to get it stable with special builds from Avaya.

Weird. i just installed 4.2.24 and its there. i cant actually remember it not being there. ever.

What firmware are you running on the ipo?

latest build will be on the support site. But avaya might recommend you stay on the version to match that your PB.

The option im on about is one of the first ones, its a tick box underneath the boxes where you fill in the users username/organisation.

I do not see those options on install at all. I'm checking the logs for various programs and Event Viewer. I will figure this out and post what it turns out to be.

Thanks for everyone's help.
