About 3 years ago we upgraded to CM4.1/S8720s. We also installed IP SoftConsole for our attendant. The business partner installed the SoftConsole in a cloud of mystery, leaving us no information on how to affect changes (other than adding users).

It has since been brought to our attention that we were given no backup criteria. Does anyone know just how much of the PC needs to be backed up in order to allow for a quick restore? Currently our support department runs monthly images, but this is ineffective because it doesn't capture users added since the last image. Is there a database that can be backed up and added to quickly get the box back online?

Also, if anyone is in the know of a concise SoftConsole document that is actually useful, please let me know. The Avaya documentation regarding SoftConsole isn't very useful, and the section on backups may as well not even exist.

Many thanks in advance.

The pcConsole is effectively in 3 parts .

1. the attendant programming on the ACM which is set up and then fixed.
2. the Softconsole software itself, this reflects the attendant programming, button setup wise, features wise. this is the backup mirroring you have in place.
3. the directory , this is by defaut setup on the pc within the softconsole.

However it is best to have the database on a server somewhere else and set a path in the softconsole configator pointing at this database acroos the network. the benefit of this is if you have more than one console , any update would be automatically distributed across the consoles and if you have a pc failure ,all you would need to do is login the replacement and have the path in place to the existing safe database. Also the database can then be copied at regular intervals as part of your backup procedure.
