I have a SOE installed with four DS's. One of them, ext 610 if it matters, has it's VM light pop on and off (not blinking, but solid as if there's mail) at seemingly random times even if there is no voicemail in the box at all!

I checked to make sure there was no group or shortcode with the number "610." No groups have voicemail, certainly none with her as a member. ;)

Started w/ version 2.0. Now running 2.1 and no change.

I'm flipping nuts with this. It's just her VM box! No other extension. What the heck is going on?

Check the Source Code tab and make sure there is no other extension listed there.

have seen this on 20 series phones, no messages in any boxes anywhere yet light stays on??? Sorry cant tell you why

Soopa Doopa Intergalactic IP Office installation mechanic and configuration corruptor from way back.

The phone is a 4412D+. Not a 20XX.

The light will eventually go out by itself, or if someone goes into Voicemail for that extension and "confirms" that there's no voicemail. The light also does come on correctly if there is voicemail. It just comes on by itself if there's no voicemail in that box at seemingly random intervals.

Also, the other phones hooked up to this SOE are also 4412D+ phones. None of the other extensions have this issue.

Corrupt config? Default and start from scratch?

Guess I should mention that this is the SOE imbedded voicemail and not a voicemail server, although a separate voicemail server is starting to sound like a good idea. ;)

If the Phone is a member of a ring group, it could be a msg for the group that is causing the problem.
Hvae you tried looking at the phone with PhoneManager to see what the msg realy is?

Like I said in the first post, "No groups have voicemail, certainly none with her as a member." Half jokingly... Actually I will say firmly that NO GROUPS have Voicemail. Also, PhoneManager does not reflect a VoiceMail either.

OK, as this has been rumbling for a while it was just a thought.

are you also sure that it is not a manualy activated MSG?

on 20XX phones pressing the message button when making a call will light the useres lamp, it is also possible from other handsets but I cannot remember how (cant be bothered to RTFM)

Nope. The 4412D+ can just be sitting there, and we can be staring right at it with the light out and then suddenly the light will turn on and stay on. We'll then *17 and check messages. It states we have no messages, then the light goes out. Light stays out for a while and then *POP*... Lights on again.

Reboot, upgrade, power cycle... I'm thinking this thing is just toast.

Rebuild the station from scratch (delete, then create), if it happens again press Menu, Menu, Msgs, Voice, then use the arrows to see where the message is appearing.
