I have here an SOE 2T+4A(3VC) US. I've upgraded it to 4.1, set locale to UK and A-law.

It won't work with a Virgin Media (Telewest) home analogue line. It just doesn't seem to notice that it's connected. I connected a SIP ATA to trunk port 2 and that works fine. I'm looking at the analogue trunk settings but I don't know what to change..

I'll try it on a BT line when I can but I don't have one at home. Does anyone have any experience of cable phone lines in the UK?

Thanks for any help

Does not work period?
Or takes ages to register and ring on the IP Office?

If the later change line settings to Loop start not ICLID Loop start.

Use call status and see where it gets you.

doesn't appear to work at all. The IPO fails to seize the line when trying to call out and nothing appears to happen when calling in

analouge is analogue, check the voltage, should be 48v standard, up to 75 with ringing.

You would have thought whilst NTL's local loop equipment is street based then mutiplexed to a head end some where the line properties would be similar to other Britsh providers.

I used to contract to NTL for there transmission guys, let me see if I can get a true property spec of an NTL line, which area you in roughly.

Just some use Nokia equipment, others use marconi.

Thanks for the help. I'm in an ex-Telewest area not NTL. I believe they used different equipment but I could be wrong. I'm in West Yorkshire if that helps.

Does anyone know which pins on the IPO trunk port should be connected to the line?

Fixed!
I whacked the Rx gain up to 3.5dB and it's working like a charm.

The only question I have now is - do I really need an IPO at home ;-)

I must find a Reply Puregold made. Was pure class.

Was on about opening the garage, paging his wife when he wanted dinner and every thing.
For that reason I would say yeah.
