Does anyone know if there is a way to block or automatically delete messages at the Server level with Exchange 5.5 or McAfee's Groupshield?

You can create a filter on the subjects/attachment names for Sobig.

OR, you can wait for GroupShield 6.0 which will have the option to delete the whole message if the attachment is infected.

How do I apply the filter to Exchange 5.5?

I am trying to avoid having to go to every workstation on the network and doing it in Outlook.

Global Settings > Message Delivery (Properties) > Filtering.

I should maybe have made it clearer that the above post was for Exchange, not Groupshield.

(Can't you edit your posts in this forum?)

I should maybe have even mentioned that I was thinking of 2000, when you're on 5.5. Sorry.

I should maybe have just stayed in bed this morning.

We've been running Antigen for Exchange 5.5 and it adds the ability for subject line filtering as well as pretty good anti-virus functionality.

Unfortunately, we got hit so bad from all of the SoBig traffic that our server just couldnt keep up with incoming flow. We have added a eSafe e-mail gateway that scans everything before it comes into our Exchange server and that seems to be handling everything pretty well, except for all the bandwidth that gets eaten up.
