Hi guys!

Does anyone know what is the max size of SNMP message that agent can receive and send in the same time trough response message?

Also, I have limitation on max allowed varbinds per manager request and it's 10 varbinds in the varbind list... Do you know the proper way to handle request with more than 10 virbinds? Is it to return error or to process 10 varbinds and leave others unhandled? Or maybe process 10 and return genErr with error index set to 11 (11th virbind)?

Thank you in advance!

Can't remember but keep it as a reasonable size.

A little under 1500 bytes is good. Unlike v3, there is no maxMsgSize field.

Why are you developing a snmp agent from scratch?

There is good freeware out there and some excellent professional agents out there.

Thanks for your reply! I am using 1472 as my MAX ( 1500 - 28 bytes (20 for the IP header and 8 for the UDP header)) but I wanted to check if I figure out it correctly.

Well, I have to port everything on TI platform and RealTimeOS where I have a lot of limitation, primarily with the memory, so, using those available agents will be hardly possible. That is why I went in that direction, making my own agent. Maybe I am missing something, do you know if there is something like that, for embedded platform, out there?

Cheers!

If you have money, I am pretty sure there is a solution out there for you.

How much memory are you talking about?
