Hi there,
as a test, i have written a program sending a trap to all snmp-agents in my network. after that i read all informations of the agents out. yes, it works!
Now my question. How can i know what kind of agent (devicetype like printer, switsh, pc, etc.) is answering?
i want to act like this: if an agent is answering me, i want to ask him what kind of device it is, and then asking only special properties.
example: device is printer -> ask RFC 1759.
anyone have a solution?

You need to perform an SNMP request of the sysObjectID for the agent/device you want to know about.

This sysObjectID definition is as follows:

The vendor's authoritative identification of the network management subsystem contained in the entity. This value is allocated within the SMI enterprises subtree (1.3.6.1.4.1) and provides an easy and unambiguous means for determining `what kind of box' is being managed. For example, if vendor `Flintstones, Inc.' was assigned the subtree 1.3.6.1.4.1.424242, it could assign the identifier 1.3.6.1.4.1.424242.1.1 to its `Fred Router'

So you can perform a check on the value returned for sysObjectID and then if it is your printer then -> ask RFC 1759.
