Hi,

I would like to know first how to implement MIB and Agent in my system.
Let me explain you my problem, I'm developping a box with a CompactPCI backplane. In the box there are a CPU board, and others interfaces board.
My main agent will be installed in a LINUX version.
I'm develloping all the boards, and so my first question is do I need to implement a MIB in each board ? Do I need an EPROM to do that ? Must I define for each component the variable I want to manipulate ?

To summarize, I don't know how to implement SNMP in my CompactPCI box.

If someone can help me.

Linux uses "snmpd" as the agent. It makes available the standard MIB-II interface stats, etc.

I would have a look at the code for this agent and work out how to push your real-world data into mib-variables. I believe a very common mechnanism is to use /proc to hold the data.

How you get data from your boards to linux kernel and snmpd is up to you.
