Sniffer 4.5 driver install ? 2

I am having a problem installing the driver that came with
Sniffer 4.5. I have an NAI card (adaptec ANA - 6911/uc.

My system is OS is Win2k. ON a Dell that comes with 3com on the mother board. I turned that off once Sniffer is installed because you have to report through the internet.

Win2k installed a driver for the Adaptec as a

Intel 21140 Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter ?

I try to update the card using the driver that came with
Sniffer 4.5 and the system ask for the Sniffer.sys file
but the file in the Sniffer 4.5 is a Sniffer.ini file and
the OS want load it.

I can't load this diver no matter what I do. I cant stop Win2k from loading a driver. Looks like I will be going back
to Sniffer 4.0. Can anyone help?

Hi, You should find the sniffer.ini file in C:|windows and the sniffer.sys file in C:|windows\system32\drivers. If not do a search for these files. Yours, Alf
There should be no reason why you cant use Sniffer v4.5 with win2k I do.

The adaptec card is not supported on Win2K for the moment with SP45.

To run SP45 with the FE Adaptec, you must use NT4.

I am having a problem installing DS Sniffer Pro Console 4.1 on my Windows XP Prof. I'm getting ODBC and Winlogon.exe is error, has anyone exprienced the same problem, and what is the solution for it.

the ANA 6911 card is not supported under win2k.. currently win2k with sniffer pro is ONLY supported on a laptop platform.

ANA-6911 won't be supported under 2K, the chipset is no longer manufactured.

The ANA6911 won't work because Adaptec stopped building it, there are no drivers for win2k - you should consider using the 4port EN card or the newer version of the Adaptec card. NAI can tel you which cards work with what OS.

If PHY errors aren't critical, try another NIC, shouldn't matter as long as the nic has the ability to enter a "Network Statistics Gathering Mode" AKA Promiscuous mode.

To use Sniffmaster under XP you can run it in Windows 95 compatabilty mode and it installs OK, Yes I have tried it.

It changes your screen a bit but hey it works!!!
