I am using snapshot format to send an email and save a copy of the report. My report is set up in landscape format, but the snapshot only creates a portrait format. Can I have snapshot format saved in landscape?
I save landscape reports in snapshot all the time. The only thing I have set is FILE+Page Setup+Landscape in the normal Page Setup screen.
How are you generating the snapshot file? Using FILE+SEND?
If you simply go FILE+EXPORT, change the type to Snapshot, and just save the file, does it come out ok? I just noticed on the FILE+EXPORT screen, a greyed-out check box to the right of where you pick the file type (Snapshot) that says "SAVE FORMATTED". Do you have that? I've never done anything to set that in any way.
Anyhow, to test this, simply save it in snapshot (vs. emailing) and see if it's landscape. tell me how it goes.
Thanks for the message. I was doing a outputto and sendobject from Visual Basic. I am running Access 2003 and the format is not consistently keeping the landscape.
The first time I tried just a file export as you recommended, it saved in portrait. I reopened the page setup, confirmed it was landscape, and then did the file send and file export, and they both saved as landscape.
In other words, I am now unsure how I can ensure the snapshot files always save with the right orientation! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I used to have problems with PREVIEWING reports keeping the landscape orientation. Others have too. Maybe it's the same issues. You can search on 'landscape' in tek-tips. I found this one which is typical of the responses I've seen:
see if those fixes help. Here at work I have Access XP (2002) and don't have any more problems since I turn off the autocorrect, and they've installed patches. I have 2003 at home tho, so I'll try it out tonight.
Try turning off Autocorrect features, and try the printer orientation code they mention and see if that works.
