I am runnning a Windows XP Pro machine and trying to administer the DC's on our network. I have only recently upgraded to AD which seems to have gone relatively well however everytime I now try and run dsa.msc (or Active Directory Users and Computers within Admin Tools) I get a MMC pop-up box with:

Snap-in Failed to initialize.
Name:<Unknown>
CLSID:{E355E.......}

When you press ok the MMC comes up but with 'Snap-in creation failed' in the right hand pane.

According to MS:

To resolve this problem:
Ignore the message in the Symptoms section and click OK to start MMC.
Click Console.
Click Add\Remove Snap-in.
Click the orphaned snap-in. (The snap-in should not have an icon.)
Click Remove.
Click OK to close the Add\Remove snap-in window.
Save your changes to the console.

There isn't actually a console menu, just a file menu with Options and Exit in it. When I go into MMC and try to add the snap-in it isn't on the available list.

It seems I was using the wrong adminpak.msi install. Thanks for your help.
