SMTP Mail Server tries to connect to wrong address

A user on the internet reports that our mail server tried to connect to his computer (SMTP port 25). His "norton firewall" blocked the access. Why would our mail server try to connect to his ip address? Any suggestions to correct?

What make and version of the email program. This is usually a mistake in the accounts section of the email program

The email package is NTMail version 7. All accounts are for our internal domain.
