smtp email sending not working on vmpro 4.0.8 2

I cannot get the vmpro pc to send emails from the users mailbox options settings. The user has the option to copy the message to his email address, the vmpro was enabled for smtp. we have the correct smtp server settings in the control panel of Windows and in the general preferences of vmpro mapi tab. Pressing the "check" radio button produces no errors. The pc can send smtp emails from the outlook express client so it appears the issue is in the programming of the vmpro or possibly the release is broke. Any one else experienced this?

Is it set to SMTP rather than MAPI in VM Pro Preferneces??

Is the Service logged on as a user that has a mailbox on Exchange?????

I have had issue before with the SMTP that I did not understand. What I did was set it up for MAPI in the settings, then changed it back to SMTP. I am not sure why this fixed it, but sometimes changing settings, then changing them back for some reason clears something out. This is true of more than just the IPO/VMPRO, but worth a try.

 
I had a similar situation.

When I traced the SMTP transaction I discovered that the SMTP server was rejecting the email sent because there was no "From:" address on the email.

To fix this I put an email address in the VM Pro Control Panel applet, on the "Email Settings" tab, in the "Account Details" field.

Normally I believe a MAPI email account would go there but if you're doing SMTP then this address becomes the "From:" address on the emails.
 
Thanks Paul. That was it. Man. We upgraded our IPO and it stopped working. I believe that the field was erased on the upgrade. Thanks again.
