After a recent acquisition, the group that was acquired uses Lotus Notes email (we are an Exchange shop). The admin claims that email routing can not be done based on domain. For example we want Internal company email delivered to HostA, and Internet email Delivered to HostB.

Can anyone help me point the admin to the right settings to accomplish this. Also, it would be great if anyone can advise how to add secondary hosts if HostA or B are down.

We understand his Notes Server is version 6.5.

Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

In Notes,
1 - Create a foreign SMTP domain doc for the internal domain. The internet domain is the internal domain. The route thru domain is any made up entry call it Domain X.

2 - Create a SMTP Connection doc in Notes to domain x with routing cost of 1 . The destination server can be an Ip address or hostname.

Now, any mail routed to internal domain will follow this rule and route to the destination server specified.
If using an IP address, create another connection doc to the secondary host with a routing cost 2 for failover
