SMTP and NTP issue 1

I have an IP Office 8.1(67) with Essential edition that won't update the time/date and SMTP isn't working either. I have 2 alarams from the system status that say : SMTP communication server failure. I have put in the correct credentials for the SMTP, but was wondering if it is because they are going through a Comcast modem/router for thier network. Could it be a blocked port? Another one says: Failed to resolver time server host name. Host name is 0.pool.ntp,org. Any ideas?
 
use the IP addresses not the domain names, the IPO doesn't do DNS lookups
make also sure that you have an IP route setup correctly and test it by using SSA and ping the targets

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
 
This whole DNS thing is annoying.
With the new on-boarding, Avaya gives you the SSL cert with domain names to register to for SSL. They do not work until you put in some DNS information.

the embedded mail has no place to put a DNS name for voicemail to email. THe IPO does do DNS but for only a select few settings. if you are using comcast as the smtp agent then it uses port 587 and not 25.
