Can anyone remember the name of the SMS Utility that takes snapshots of a machine. This is used for software distribution. It will take a snapshot a machine you install software then take a second snapshot.
Any ideas?
SMS Installer. Its on the cd and is somewhat hidden in there. Within this utility, you can use the repackage or watch function to distribute your software with the help of snapshots.
SMS Installer is a "lite" version of Wise InstallMaster that Microsoft has OEM'd from Wise. Wise is a much better and more flexible product. Picture Taker is good, but a bit cumbersome.
DrLove

MCSE + I
It sounds like you are looking for SYSDIFF. It is part of the NT ResKit. It would be smart to get the latest version from MS site. I've used it briefly and it seems to work on very similar machines, but when I tried using the same 'image' on a number of machines i started getting messages like "This image was created by a different machine" then it wouldn't work. But from your desciption that is the tool your looking for.
