SMS Remote Client Tools Disabled 1

I have installed SMS 2003 and have gotten a pretty good collection from my local subnet, but nothing seems to be collected from my remote subnets. Also the client install (legacy and advance) have the client remote tools disabled. I cannot find any setting the in the console like 2.0 that enables the remote tools .. any help here .. I have looked at the setup wizard and can't find a setting that I missed there either ...

Have you checked the Remote Tools Client Agent properties page? There is a setting there to enable Remote Tools.

that's the issue ... remote tpol client agent does not show up with the other clients

Site Hierarchy
%Sitename%
Site Settings
Client Agents

Check in the client agents for the remote tools client agent settings

I'm confused - what are you referring to when you say "remote tool client agent does not show up with the other clients"? Are you looking on the client side or on the server?

No ... as pointed out in the tree above that "qtin" wrote. There should be a "client" agent like there is for software and hardware inventory, etc for remote client tools. That "client" is not there ... I hope that doesn't confuse you more ....

You mentioned that you looked at the setup wizard. Have you tried doing a 'Modify or Repair'? It sounds like Remote Tools wasn't installed at setup and you could correct it that way.

Thanks Mich, that is exactly what happened ... all is fine now .. I thought for sure I had that selected. I had been looking at the modify/repair from the program list. The secret was to use the SMS 2003 CD ...

the checkbox that did not allow XP and 2003 systems to install remote tools was checked, ie enabled.
