My name is Héctor Camacho, I am analyst of systems of the Address of Technologies of Information and Communications of the University Central of Venezuela, I am carrying out an investigation on Systems Management Server. I have gotten some how many characteristic of this product in the portals of Microsoft; however I have some questions that I wait they can answer me.

System Management Server

* Does it discharge and does it distribute patches of security to all the products of Microsoft?
* Which is the quantity of supported clients?
* A only server SMS can manage several domains?
* Can be udpdated the clients Windows that don't belong to a domain?
* Does it support clients Windows 9X, Milenium, Windows NT y/o XP?
* Does it apply patches of security to MSN Messenger?

You can patch any software product with SMS however is you use SUS Feature pack it will only automate patches for certain ms products.

Which is the quantity of supported clients?

Supported clients:

Windows 98 and NT 4.0 sp..? legacy clients
Windows 2000 up with SMS 2003 SP1 use advanced clients

A only (1?)server SMS can manage several domains?

Yes (takes a bit more work but the short answer is yes)

Can be udpdated the clients Windows that don't belong to a domain?

Kind of, it will update vpn clients, SMS 2003 sp1 will update workgroups, but I honestly dont know if a domain sms server will also support a workgroup at the same time....

Does it support clients Windows 9X, Milenium, Windows NT y/o XP? answered above other than ME...I've read both that it works and that it doesnt....I'd say it doesnt work (ME that is as ME never really did work)

Yes it applies patches to Messenger.

It will even apply full service packs..

and as I said before if you manually make patches it will patch just about anything.

Tienes que tener cuidado si usas un solo server, ya que SQL y SMS usan muchos recursos (procesador, memoria y disco duro.
