SMS .exe files show in client task manager, but wont run

I am using SMS 2003 on a Windows 2003 domain. Any .exe file I try to distribute to clients never runs. The file that is supposed to run shows up in the clients process list, but never actually does anything. I even wrote a simple "hello world" .exe file and it had the same problem. I have been able to successfully run other kinds of files (bat, msi, etc..) I even tried calling the .exe file from a bat file and no luck. Any ideas or comments on what is going on??

Just a shot in the dark, but when you set up the distribution program, did you check the box that allows the client to interact with this program (under the program settings on the environment tab)?

My understanding is that if that box is not checked, the program will always run in the background.
