SMS 2.0 sp3. running on nt4 sp6a. Clients are w9x and w2k.
I seem to be having an issue with PCs who very obviously have all of the client agents installed yet are not showing up in any collections. Site is configured to update every 23 hours, so where have all the clients gone? Using logon discovery all clients call the smsls script in their login scripts. Subnets are included in the boundaries. These are not mobile users. Logs on client machines tell me everything is cool. Which logs should I be checking out on the server, I wonder? THANKS for any advice- you may just keep my head from exploding...

I seem to have the same problem on some clients, with the same configuration but my clients are all nt4. Clients seem to drop off? Everything looks good on the client side, but they don't show in any collections. Boundaries are good and i have pushed packages to these clients before... I think it has something to do with the client not being assigned to a site, but yet I have been able to run a "per user" advertisment on a client.

Any thoughts?

Hey guys ... I have the same thing. I have SMS 2.0 running with SQL 2000.

my local site admin had sucesfully installed client, but it doesnt not seem to be registering on our collection tree.

Any ideas? could it be a VLAN issue? or a SQL2000 issue since I am only having this problem with SQL2000?

Here's a question... Has either of your environments been suject to the FUN_LOVE virus? This ####ing virus corrupted many NT 4.0 workstations several months ago - disabling the SMS client on the infected workstations. At that time the drive for the floor techs was to rid the computers of the virus, not to remove and reinstall the SMS client - which changed the file signature and therefore the CRC check on the client files - look at
I have more information at work, at home right now... Let me know please.

Well we have been subjected to Fun Love but it has consistently cleaned at the server level before it could strike the desktops. I am starting to believe that the culprit on my system was (is) veritas netbackups. It releases so many processes that were hanging on the primary sms server. Ater I reloaded the veritas client on the box I did a site reset and now things seem to be running smoothly (I can't believe I have the nerve to post such a statement; on a friday no less!)
