I have recently reinstalled SMS, and reinstalled SQL... given the installation a new site code, and created a corresponding site code database on SQL... say SMS_ABC.

Trying to connect the admin console now to the site database is failing cos its trying to connect to the old database (SMS_XYZ) which no longer exists on the SQL server.
There is only the one SQL server, solely for the SMS installation, so i dont understand why its refering to the old site code. Help

SMS is 2.0 sp3
SQL is 7.0

How can i get the admin console to connect to the right site database

Hi lola,

Did you try going through the "connect to database" wizard?

Open Admin Console, click on action, all tasks, connect to site database. You can browse and select the one you want.

Thats the only way i know and that's the only way i tried.

I found the answer. Apparently if the new site code is alphanumerically higher than the old one, admin console wont connect to the new site server. In typical or not so typical fashion (who knows) "Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SMS version 2.0".

Anyways, the solution lies here:-

Who's that girl!
