Hi I have just installed SMS 2003 and sp1 onto a server (not a DC) in our company's network. On regular XP pro build I can push the advanced client out no problems. But on our company build (some services and strange software - etc) I cannot get the client to successfully push.

I was wondering what services need to be running on the client PC in order for a successful push of the client sms software. The installation log on the client mentions a WMI deletion error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you install the client manually, can it auto detect a management point?

have you extended the AD schema?

No it doesn't auto detect. I assigned it in the System Management control in control panel.

There is a bug in the MP Troubleshooter so you do not have to worry about the MPCERT HTTP.

Do you see any messages in the SMS Status Messages? Also, what are your settings for Maintenance? Look at this for reference:

Somehow it now works, just messing with it, and reinstalling the SMS Primary Site. Thank for the advice anyhow. RATED

Actually.

The only reason that it has worked is that i when i reinstalled the SMS Site Server, it picked up an old version of the client I installed manually. And still can not push out the client onto the other machines. A Win2k3 machine and a Win2k machine.

On the machine with the client installed. The inventory and reporting works, however it will not receive advertisements, and remote desktop doesn't work.

Any ideas?
